OpenAthens SP software is already out of support and reached end of life in May 2020.

Check out OpenAthens Keystone instead. It's supercool and makes dealing with SAML much easier.

Preparing yum

First add our repo to the yum directory:

vi /etc/yum.repos.d/openathens.repo

Add the following

[openathens-sp]
name = yum repository for athens rpms
baseurl = https://username:password@repo.openathens.net/yum/pkgs/rhel$releasever/sp/2.2/$basearch
enabled = 1
gpgcheck = 0
failovermethod = priority

Where username and password are the credentials for your OpenAthens administrator account. Our service desk will be able to help you if you are unsure

Install the OpenAthens SP software

sudo yum install openathens-sp

If any dependancy errors are thrown will need to install the epel repository as well.

 

RedHat Enterprise Linux / CentOS 6.x

yum install http://dl.fedoraproject.org/pub/epel/6/x86_64/epel-release-6-8.noarch.rpm

RedHat Enterprise Linux / CentOS 7.x

yum install epel-release

Validating the installation

A successful installation will create the following directories, modules and files:

/usr/share/atacama-platform/
/usr/lib[64]/httpd/modules/mod_openathens.so
/etc/httpd/conf.d/openathens.conf
/etc/httpd/conf.d/openathens-sp.conf.dist
/etc/httpd/conf.d/oaLogSP.xml
