China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (CNKI)

The regular updates to this resource make proxying it… a little challenging. SAML is always our recommended option where available and in this case it is.

Whilst we work towards including them in the OpenAthens federation, your SAML options are:

1. For customers in the UK Access Management Federation or InCommon, skip ahead to step 3.

2. For everyone else:

   1. Create a 1:1 SAML resource as described at Add and manage custom SAML resources

   2. Use this metadata file for the resource (correct at the time of publication): CKNI Metadata.xml

3. Contact CNKI and request they set up SAML access quoting your method (federation name or direct 1:1) and:

   1. for UK fed and InCommon, your entityID, and your scope.

   2. for direct 1:1, it’s your entityID, scope and your metadata address.

4. If you are using restrictive mode, or MyAthens Plus, add the resource to any relevant permission sets
